2021 turned out to be fruitful: I paint 42 pictures. True, they are all small, about half a meter, and, as a rule, very laconic. For the first time, the pictures were lined up in large series: "Giving back to the street" and "Blanks for Slate Ode".
"Giving back to the street" began with a near-real-life reproduction of colorful patches on old walls, usually left by municipal workers over graffiti. I was not going to directly imitate the nameless heroes, but it turned out very similar.
Quite by accident, I decided to write not separate pictures, but diptychs. There is also something communal in this idea - as if the wall was not enough, I had to borrow a piece from the neighbors. The canvases were deliberately taken of different widths at the same height.
Each of the canvases of the diptych has an independent composition and can be exhibited as a separate work. Moreover, they are connected by a common plastic idea.
Gradually the series developed, the pictures became less abstract. In the end, instead of colored spots, quite material logs appeared on them.
The series "Blanks for Slate Ode" came from the endless buzzing of several Mandelstam lines in my head.
The white in these pictures is pure white. Hungry water flows, breaking through the plane. The last (as of 03/01/22) picture turned inside out and called the "Black Arrow". But inside it is also white.
If possible, I will turn this series into objects with wood paneling. And then I will forget to change this text. So let's see how it comes out.
