The Book about My Letters tells about 78 projects related to typography over the past 25 years. The publication is incredible in many ways, and there has never been such a thing in Russian or on our book market.
Firstly, the author of the text, illustrations, and all fonts, and there are more than a hundred of them, the designer, photographer, typesetter, and publisher is one person. He is the author of all the projects described in the book.
Secondly, the projects themselves are extremely diverse.
These are fonts — textual, accidental, superaccidental, experimental — even made specifically for one book.
This is lettering, from the simple to the fantastic.
This is pure art, somehow connected with the text. For example, a book of erotic poems on bed linen.
These are art maps: literary, ethnographic, historical.
And much, much more.
The book has a rigid turn-based structure. Each project is enclosed in a separate capsule: it starts on the left page, ends on the right — no matter how many pages there are.
The book about my letters is interactive. Almost every project is accompanied by QR codes leading to the pages of my website or to other places where you can see and read more. In particular, you can use QR codes to view all my fonts mentioned in the book. We can say that the font catalog is hidden in the book.
And finally, there is an amazing mistake in the book, which was most unimaginably unnoticed by anyone until the moment the author began to look through the finished edition. On the dust jacket, instead of "|———o Gordon" is "|———o Gord".
I will not reprint the super. And to you, the buyer of a cruel exclusive with a mandatory, personally addressed, author's signature, I offer the game. Think about how your copy will be more expensive? Is it only signed inside, but with an error on the outside, or both signed and corrected? I do not know which is cooler)
Therefore, please, when ordering a book, write: "with an edit" or "without an edit". It's never too late to fix it, but it's unlikely to erase the inflexible marker))
